For The Dads
For The Dads
Hey dads your day is approaching wishing you all the best! My 3 year old brought the following poem home from school for her daddy. Wanted you all to read it. Brought me to tears thinking of my own dad, and the dad my husband is!
Walk a Little Slower Daddy
"Walk a Little slower, Daddy." said a little child so small.
I'm following in your footsteps and I don't want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast, sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower Daddy, for you are leading me.
Someday when I'm all grown up, You're what I want to be.
Then I will have a little child who'll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right, and know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy, for I must follow you!!

My dad has never had addiction issues, but with my sm (a pill addict) he's become quite the codie.
Regardless, he has always been there for me. He was strong enough to let me hit bottom in my addiction, and has been one of my biggest supporters.
I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to copy/paste that poem to him and add my own comments. He has his faults, we often butt heads (we're BOTH hard-headed and stubborn!) but when it comes down to it, I can't imagine where my life would be without him.
Hugs and prayers,
Amy
