Sober and Happy
Sober and Happy
Well after my weekend "oopsy" and dumping the rest of the Dewars down the drain I once again am back to my feeling so good, happy feeling, not feeling like crap in the morning and being able to focus through the day. YAY!
I need to get more busy in the evenings. I know there's always meetings and I am going, but I get this sense of boredom at times and not knowing what I want to do with myself even tho there's plenty to do.
It's more about avoiding plopping down on the couch which is where I traditionally have done all of my drinking. I guess it's about FORCING myself and maybe if I keep practicing doing something it will become a new habit, no?

Soulkat:
I've said this several times here before but it seemed to work for me early on - make an actual checklist of tasks/meetings/etc in schedule format of what you pan on getting done or doing for the evening. I'm very schedule oriented at work with usually most of my day broken down by a very detailed calendar.
Something like:
5pm - pick up milk and bannanas
5:30 - Make supper
6:30 - aa meeting
7:30 - walk
8:00 - fold laundry
8:30 - catch up on news/TV time
9:30 - brush teeth & wash face
10:00 read and bed

yea soulkat, me too, I get that restless bored feeling and for me thats dangerous! Along with couple of meetings a week, I had to set up other evening stuff, as evenings on the couch is where I associate all my drinking. I've joined a meditation class one evening, and volunteer another, so that all keeps me occupied, and whats nice is, I fall into bed very tired each night! For me, it was important to find a couple of other interests outside of meetings. It was hard to motivate myself to go at first, but now thankfully I'm on a roll and the volunteering (doggie walking) and meditation are what interests me, so now no motivation needed! Best wishes to you on your sobriety
