Hello :) new to the site
Hello,
I am new to this site and just wanted to introduce myself. Some of the other recovery forums I have been to have not been very welcoming, so I am hoping this one will be.
I am currently 3 years clean from opiates. At the height of my addiction I was taking 10-15 lortabs in one swallow 2-3 times per day. I started to dabble with heroin and that was when I finally decided enough was enough and it was time to seek help. Since then I have been on suboxones (yes, for 3 years now!) and I am terrified that I will always be dependent on them. I've tried a few times to quit but the longest I have gone was 12 days..which felt like 12 years because of how awful I felt. Is there anyone here who has been on suboxones for more than a year or two and has been able to quit successfully? If so, how did you do it?? I am reaching out because I don't want to have to rely on suboxones for the rest of my life!!

Akashamisi....You have came to the right place, the people here are very helpful & supportive. I dont know about Subs, I went CT from Opiates 38 days ago, that was the only way for me. Im sure someone on SR will come along who can give you a little insight...Good Luck
We have a forum just for those questions. Here's a link.

Welcome akashamisi
This is one of the most welcoming sites I've ever been on. I'm sure you'll feel at home here.
I have no experience with subs but I know others will.
Have you consulted a Dr?

Welcome to SR! I don't have personal experience with subs, but I have one family member on subs, another on long term methadone.
I'm sure others will be along with more experience. What I did find out, though, is that no matter what I abused or got addicted to, I get a lot of strength and support from people here...even from those who's addiction was to the few things I didn't do.
We all want to not depend on something and we all want the mental and/or physical withdrawal to be as painless as possible, I think.
I agree with talking with your dr. I know the subs forum used to be a bit busier, and I know someone else is here recently posted something similar, so you are not alone.
Hugs and prayers,
Amy
