Running with scissors....

I like running with scissors. Gives me a rush when I live on the edge like that.

But how far from the truth is it really?

My addictions are only a misstep away from impaling me.

The risks are mine to bear.

So what made it obvious to me that maybe this will all turn out very very terribly?

Could it be when I turned in the scissors for a hunting knife?

By then I was a sprinter!

But oh no.... I wasn't done there. I leaned how to do hurdles with a machete!

Right there.... right there is real talent!

Oddly....I kept pace and rhythm enough to keep all of the important appendages.

But there it was up ahead..... The finish line....the race could be won.... Won by a psycho machete wielding hurdler......

But then something happened.

Something big..... I inexplicably stopped before I crossed that line. I stopped running. I laid down the machete. I looked around. And I walked away.

No one wins this race I thought. No one.

I know this is a repost from my past but its how I feel today. I feel free. Hopeful.

Great post! I was so worried when I joined AA that I would become a boring person. I thought that the pathway to normal living would lead to boredom and monotony! How wrong I was! In the past 18 months I have completed 3 levels of a college course, I have started learning to drive (at 40 years of age!!!), but most importantly I love my life. The normal things in life are far from boring and I am grateful for them! I put those scissors down!
