Day 9 check in

Day nine with no cigarettes or alcohol. My gums are bleeding because I quit smoking, so I hope my gums will get stronger. Today is Friday and I hate being alone but I will do some productive stuff like run and take care of some errands. I will be glad when my lungs feel stronger. I hate what I have done to my body, and now I get angry at smokers because I dont want to inhale second hand smoke. Today will be tough but I can get through it.

You're doing great, Acheleus!

Whenever I'm around smokers I'm like, "Wow, did I used to smell like that?" You don't notice it when you smoke, but you sure do after you quit.

Hi Acheleus -

Congrats on 9 days! One day at a time. It does get better, as you know. The body has an amazing ability to heal if you treat is well. Sounds like you are!

Get through this and you'll never have to feel this way again

The sobriety is more important right now than the quitting smoking. I think doing both at the same time is pretty difficult, but props to you if you can pull it off. 9 days is AWESOME! I did a year no drinking, before I decided to quit smoking. I didnt smoke for 6 months and was CRABBY as hell. I picked up vaping, which gives you nicotine, but no cancer causing effects, aging, or the other 4000 chemicals in ciggs. Its actually a fun little hobby now. They have all these flavors and I am part of a forum that is all about vaping. I got this battery and tank system from a tobacco shop and I love it. I puff away all day and I feel a lot better. Plus, its not harmful to your lungs at all. They still heal from no ciggs. I dunno, thought I would mention it in case you wanted to check it out. Anything you do to not drink at this point is important. If you wanted to research it, check out Totallywicked.com or something like that.

God luck with the smokes; I gave them up 35 years ago and strangely did it pretty easily.
Keep exercising and look for like minded company supportive of your sobriety, 10 tomorrow on keep & keeping on.

I just had a health scare at the doctor this morning. There is nothing more valuable than health. I shouldnt have freaked out, but my health is fine, the doctor just told me to never smoke or drink again. I am cooking dinner tonight and preparing for my class.

Acheleus, I hope that you are well. Breathe in and out, eat, and chillax. You are not alone. We are all here for you, and always will be. 9 days is really AWESOME! Keep up the good work.

I love your check-ins Achelus..as you are just a few days ahead of me in the no booze/smokes department. Running is awesome...I have to get back at it myself. I know in previous quits of the cigs, running was a lifeline I needed so much. I was running..not smoking and still downing a bottle of wine or more every night. I hope to get back to the running in the next while...

Although I feel great to be free of both...I'm sooooooooo lethargic.

I think I missed the earlier freakout...but glad you're okay now.
