I just went to re-join this site only to discover the email I used way back when was same I'm using now..so the old profile was still there. It's weird to go back and read posts from then. I'm only on Day 2 and I'm not sure what my sober plan entails. I don't think at this point I want to go to AA again. I'm not sure what I want. I am in counselling and have been for a matter of months. I initially went to her over a toxic relationship ...which has ultimately led to me having to face up to my drinking problem and how I have contributed to its toxicity. A couple of weeks ago we talked about my drinking at how it was contributing to the non-progress of my life. She herself is many, many years sober. At our last meeting she advised that I may have to take a look at my drinking. I said I would. I see her bi-weekly. I had no intention of giving up wine at that point. Suffice it to say the events over the past week have led me to the desire to quit drinking....again.

I recognize the vital importance of community and support in healing. So I'm here. That's all I know for today.
