I used.
I think it was the day/days you used that are down the drain not the 16 days you were sober. Everyday sober is a gift, everyday under the influence is a waste. That's why they call it getting wasted.
If I've learned anything Jakec, I've learned that if I look at anything I try and it doesn't work out perfectly the first time it is not a failure if I learned the lesson it was trying to show me. This applies to pretty much everything in life. Successful people look at these things as lessons and adjust and still move forward to their goal. Learning the skill of reflecting and moving forward to achieve what you want will serve you well in most areas of all of our lives.
There was a lesson in the 16 days and there was a lesson in the 1 day. Both are insights to where you want to be as long as you never lose sight on where you want to be.
This is how most of us grow.

Nope, not down the drain Jake. As long as you learned from it. Not trying to put a happy spin on it - but I did the same with my drinking many times. I finally got it, and you will too.
Glad you posted about what happened. Let's get back to it.

I feel disappointed that I had a minor lapse 6 days ago. But I'm definitely not feeling as bad on this day 6 as I did my last day 6, or the one before that, or the one before that. It all counts and as long as we pick ourselves back up we will get through. Best of luck to you.
Those 16 days arent completely wasted, because you learned from them. So you made a mistake, now its time to get back on that horse and try again. There is no limit to how many attempts you can take in regards to getting healthy and sober. The fact you even want to shows that you are heading in a better direction, now you just need to find that one attempt that will stick. Good luck!!! I have faith in you.
Not all the time. Some of us have more will power than others. There is no RIGHT way to get sober, and shame on you for getting preachy when you were once in his same position. This is why people avoid AA for the most part, because you get sober and think you have all the answers and get preachy. No one likes a know-it-all. He can figure this out and try as many methods as he needs to. No ones path is identical to anothers, and without self will, there would be no desire for a better life through sobriety.
