hi everyone, just having a look on here really, I've decided its time to sober up from alcohol.. I'm getting Fat and worried that my alcoholism is going too far.. I drink daily and regularly in excess. I just think it might be good to get some support as its been going on for years now. I

Welcome to SR. Daily drinker here too. Thirty five years. After 10 years of half-hearted attempts to quit or cut down (all of which failed), I had a moment of clarity where I saw exactly where I was headed if I kept drinking.

Quit, and put all my heart into my recovery. Haven't looked back. Hope you find the same success and joy.

thanks guys, I start tomorrow day 1 .. hardest day I think but I'm looking forward to this, I stopped smoking at Xmas. so this is next for me

Not to sound flippant, but what's wrong with today?

I spent a lot of those ten years I mentioned getting sober tomorrow. Tomorrow is a lot further away than you realize. Today is right here. Sounds like a good day to start.
