Hi Jennyg! Thanks for coming here. It's a very warm and caring place. Is this your first time trying to stop? Have you tried AA or any other recovery programs? You are definitely not alone and things can get better. How about you tell us more about yourself?

Do you have any support in your desire to stop drinking? Any caring family or friends you could confide in? AA could be a good thing too and there are meetings just about anywhere. I stay sober with the help of this site and my counseling sessions.

Whatever way you choose to get sober, give it your all cause your life depends on it.

It's not your fault you didn't have control. Alcohol just has that strong of a pull on some of us. Do you have any support lined up? Have you tried AA? AVRT?

Welcome Jenny I'm glad you made it through day 1. One day at a time works for me. I also attend AA meetings. I credit this fellowship for helping me learn how to live a sober life and actually enjoy. Things aren't always Jesus Mary & sunshine but sobriety has so many gifts & I'm only a little over 6 months in. I'm glad you found us!

I recomend you read Allen Carr's "The Easy Way to Stop Drinking."

It changed my life and the way I think about drinking.

Welcome and congrats on day two!

Like you I quit before, made it 5 1/2 months and went back to it for nine years.

I am going to AA and I find it helps quite a bit. Not only the fellowship but they understand as they have been or are at the same place I am.

If you don't think you can go alone then call the AA hotline and they will find someone in your area that can pick you up and take you.
