Quick Intro
Hi all, I am a 45 year old alcoholic who quite drinking on 20th April 2013, and have been drinking regularly since I was 18. I knew on which day I planned to quit the booze, and spent a lot of time on this site 'lurking' beforehand just to get a general feel for what I could expect when I gave up. This site has been an invaluable help. So far, since giving up, I've only had one bad day, but it passed, and generally I've been feeling fine, in fact better than ever.

I too planned my quit date. Likewise mid 40's quitter after a lifetime of drinking 'enjoyment'. I also looked everywhere I could for support and information. This forum is great and I also attend AA meetings. I've now got over a year sober. You can do it, but don't be afraid to ask for help or advise.
