Long time no see!

Hello all, I don't know how many will remember- me-- but a year ago this site saved me, literally! My H had just entered his 2nd shot at treatment since we've been together...my 2nd marriage to an A....life was not looking so good and boy was I on a pity trip!.

I am proud to say that as of May 3, he celebrated one year of sobriety and I celebrated one year of healing and WE celebrated one year of rebuilding our life.

Alanon saved me when I didn't think I had anywhere else to go--everyone on this site saved me when I thought I was crazy and NO ONE had it as bad as me.

Thank you -- Rainy

Hey Rainy,
Glad to hear your good news.
These are the best kinds of posts to read.
They show that there is hope and that the program does work if you work it.
Peace,
Gabe

Thanks Gabe--it hasn't all been "cake" and there's been many times I've wanted to give up on him and there's been many times I've wanted to give up on ME too--it's hard work to NOT be a Codie! One thing that's helped me a lot is recognizing, and accepting, that I am ALWAYS going to have some unhealthy co-dependent traits, but the difference for me now is that I accept that part of me and I'm able to deal with it day to day. and my H and I talk now..wow what a concept! haha

I think what helped me the most through all of this was finally grasping, and understanding that I could only help me and while I could be supportive of him, I couldn't fix him.

and thank you too, Best, I don't know you either, but wish you the very best.

Although I don't know you either since I didn't stumble across this site until December, I just wanted to say that it is so awesome to hear that you and your husband are both in a much better place. It is nice to read posts like this~ they definitely send the message that there is hope!
