1st recognize I’m an AA hard liner and experienced too many remember whens trying to get sober. The hard liners of 30+ years ago were what I and many others needed, it was told the way it is, no super fine pabulum and poor you. It started with sit up front and listen, I’ll pick you up for a meeting tomorrow, be there sober. We were told not to drink for 90 days and after that if we still wanted to our misery in refundable. We were given a few tools at a time because we are easily overwhelmed. 1 keep coming, 2 don’t pick up the first drink even if our a.s falls off, 3 listen, identify don’t compare, 4 men with men, woman with women, 5 think about not drinking instead of drinking, 6 meetings meetings meetings, 7 stay away from drinking situations, 8 get a sponsor even if you don’t want to, 9 ask for help, not religious if preferred, 10 think positive about NOT DRINKING. 11 read literature and ASK questions. 12 keep coming.
