3 days sober now

I'm finishing up my third day sober now, and so far it's going well. I've had some anxiety and lots of sweating from detox, but that's clearing up, I think. To keep myself busy and my mind out of dark places, I've been keeping active. I tossed a frisbee in the park with a few friends then went to watch a movie (one of my friends hadn't seen Fight Club so we gave him a proper initiation, but I digress). Though the detox feel-bads are coming down, I'm noticing at times the still flare up a bit. Particularly at night when I'm tired/trying to sleep, I get anxiety rushes and find myself feeling "too sober" (no such thing as too sober, it's just a weird feeling). Anybody else get this? I've also been grinding my teeth a bit and there's frequently a bit of pressure in one of my temples, but I've read that's just from tension..

Thankfully, because I am(was?) a lone sneaky drinker I find I don't have to change much of my current life as much as fill the void with new things. I haven't had the cravings kick in yet, but from past experience I know it won't be long. I've heard diet can affect cravings/state of mind, so I'm looking in to trying out vegetarianism.

Sounds fun man. Congrats on the three days. Remember, it will take your body time to adjust...hopefully the tension gets under control.

The tension's fine, I'm not too worried about that now. The pressure in my temples freaked me out a bit at first but when I read it was probably stress, it made sense. So far its manageable with conscious breathing and herbal tea. It's the restlesness when I'm trying to sleep that gets to me the most.

Don't worry... no one ever died of insomnia. Well... no one who wasn't being kept awake against their will. Just turn the lights off and let yourself rest. Keeping a journal and getting my thoughts on paper always made it easier for me to sleep. Laying in bed quietly is almost as good as sleeping anyhow... stressing about it only makes it worse.
