Day 19

It was Anzac Day yesterday in Australia, a day most adults go to the pup or club to drink and play two up. I went to the dawn service but I never ventured to the club or pub. I stayed strong and sober. I am feeling really good today for my achievements and quite proud of myself i must say! Have a great day everyone

nice job
19 days sober is something to be proud about for sure
you have a lot of the worst of it behind you now
keep working your Program that has gotten you this far
plus
does not hurt to add things to our to do list
kind of like insurance

Thanks for the encouragement OHP. What do you mean "does not hurt to add things to our to do list kind of like insurance"

well we should not slack on our Program that has been working
doing a little extra can be like an insurance policy
insurance from what ? from taking that first drink

example
the Big Book talks about us working with newcomers
as a form of insurance against that first drink

today I do not entertain the thought of drinking

wish you well also on this beautiful sober day
I remember when I sobered up this last time
yes
it was a lot of hard work
I had put my mind and body through the wringer too many times
I was in a deep fog for many months
it seems that you are not in the same type of fog
I thank God for that for you
with some time sober I can guarantee you
staying sober becomes easier and easier
my Sponsor gave me an excellent tool to use this time around
I must not entertain the thought of drinking
unless I wish to drink
a man is what he thinkith
so
if I keep thinking about how a drink might not be a bad idea
over and over
I probably will end up drunk before I know it
when I was almost 3 years sober years back
I used to drive past a certain bar every day after work
I started looking at the bar as I drove past
and wondered what it would be like to have a drink
this went on for three or fours days
then on the third or fourth day as I was driving by
and entertaining the thought of drinking
at the last minute I pulled into the parking lot
before I knew it I was at the bar
with a very tall beer and a double margarita before me
I hardly had a thought as I drank them down fast

today I do not entertain the thought of drinking
