Drinking out of control

Hi my drinking has become out of control and don't know how to stop. I just can't take the waking up hungover looking out the window see if my vehicle is safe. No less the guilt trip I'm give my self every time I drink . So looking for some help really to stop . Just looking for some direction. Thx.

Welcome Jacob

I would suggest that you read the posts here on newcomers, and also you can discover the other forums such as alcoholism, and alcoholism 12 step for good ideas.

You never have to take another drink.

Each recovery starts with one day.

Stay with us...read and learn.

You'll see that people have found sobriety on various paths.

The AA program of recovery has helped me.

Welcome to the family, Jacob.

I drank all my life & wasted so many years trying to manage it. I remember those mornings of panic and wondering what happened last night. It's hard to let go, but so wonderful to be free. I hope you'll find the help you need by reading and posting here. Glad to have you with us.

I could relate Jacob to the car piece....where is it, how is it, did I drive it home? Now that I've been sober almost 5 months I can say I don't miss those days. I always know where my car is. The blackout drinking is a sign you are getting sicker. I ended up in the hospital; I have some linger impacts due to a brain injury. Stop now...you are worth it!

Wellcome Jacob,
Please do not drive drunk. Its a felony if you get caught and a prizon term if you hurt/kill someone...
just set one rule for now, no drinking outside of your home.
Quiting drinking is a challenge. Some relapse trying.
However, we all try and try again. Support is here so just reach out.

Best.

Yes blackouts are the worst. Broken bones and teeth rank right up there 2, as well as many other injuries. It is hard to stop, even after going thru all of that. And knowing the risks and possibilites. The sickness of it..........
Glad you are here and seeking help. Support is #1 for me, and you will find an endless supply of that here. You can do this. Know it and believe in yourself.

Welcome Jacob!

I remember the blackout drinking and I remember the horrible anxiety of waking up in the morning and trying to piece together what I had done. You can get past this. You can recover, many of us do.

Do you have any real life support? Family or friends you can talk to? I find a counselor to be of great help in dealing with life.
