Old Ways.
Old Ways.
At 71 I have plenty of time to think of the bad old ways involving alcoholism.
Experience is a great teacher, but in many instances a very slow one.
Now 16 days into sobriety and fifty years of all types of drinking, with best sober periods probably less than one year, I am mildly considering my first anniversary.................more importanly though its a day at a time project.

Better late than never, eh Murchoviski? It does get better, you just have to work towards it; day by day the days become weeks and the weeks become months. Personally, I can’t wait until the months become years. Not that I’m wishing time away, though not as experienced as you, at 50 I’m at a point in time where I would prefer it if the hands of time would slow down. Congratulations on 16 days, wishing you the best experience of your life!
Go for it buddy!
I'm 59 and I was drinking since I was 23. I'm at 6 weeks now and it does get better and easier - at only six weeks.
This place has been a Godsend. I poke my nose in here at least 2 or three times a day. Man, it is so much better sober.

Congrats on 16 days Murchovski! It really is nice genuinely experiencing each blissful moment in a sober reality. I think ahead like that too, wanting to get those sober anniversaries achieved and crossed out on the calendar.
Hello, and welcome . Glad to have you here. Feel free to post as often as you like.
I started drinking at fourteen and have been sober two years and three months. I'm now fifty-three.
It's never too late to quit. I hope you do, and best to you.
