Detox day one almost over

Well it hasn't been too bad a day, spent most of it in bed ,checked my bp regularly and taken my meds. Very surprised I haven't been completely zonked out by the Valium , just goes to show how much my body was dependent on alcohol. So far so good no withdrawal symptoms but craving carbs!!

Looking forward but scared how I will feel after detox. Determined to do this but scary thought never ever drinking ever again.

Yes, quiting drinking can be a scary thought. I take it one day at a time and remember where that first drink will take me.
I hope your detox goes well, and remember, you never have to go throough withdrawal again.

Silverotter,

That's awesome! I am so happy for you! And I totally get what you mean about the carbs! The number of carbs I consumed daily in alcohol was far greater than the carbs I allow myself when I want a snack now and then! I've got so much more energy to burn those carbs now too!

I'm so glad you're here and hope you'll keep sharing and posting as much as you can so we can read your success story!

Grace Be With YOU!

Silverotter,

Congrats on day 1!

I've read your posts, I did medical-supervised home detox as well, using the med you mentioned (it's a good choice for several reasons) along with a couple of others. It was painless (except for the bug I caught, lol) stick to your doc's instructions, you should be feeling great soon =)

The carb cravings are normal. Drink plenty of water, fresh juice and sport drinks.

And, more importantly, keep posting here in SR, you'll get lots of support

this is one of my old post regarding vitamins
if one wishes they should (start slow) and work their way up

I used to sell vitamins
these below I think to be very good for the average person

caution
many brands of vitamins that claim they are the best
are just blowing smoke
a common Wal-Mart is a good place to buy reasonably prices vitamins

multi-vitamin
B Complex
fish oil
calcium, Magnesium, zinc, D -- comes together in one daily pill
E

iron -- mostly for women only -- too much very bad for men

saw palmetto for men -- for the prostate gland

So what's your plan after detox?

You are going to feel great in a couple of weeks. So great in fact, that you may start thinking "maybe I can still drink if I only do "x" differently this time."

It's best to have a plan of action and support, because if you are an alcoholic, those thoughts will come.

Thanks for posting & sharing.

I'm on day 2. I was craving carbs like crazy yesterday. I have a slight headache, head feels strange, like it's fat. I have brain fog, maybe the Ativan i took for sleep last night? I juiced mainly veggies for breakfast. Had a sandwich and vitamins for lunch & lots of water all day. A little craving for alcohol about now...this is my usual drinking time.

Today is day 4, feeling great except for a headachy feeling and intense cravings.
I started to doubt that I can do this for good. I really need this place...you all help keep my accountable, strong, and aware of the consequences.

Changeme: keep up the good work, you are doing great. I'm right there with you on day 4.

I have a prescription for Naldrexone waiting for me at the pharmacy, I will pick it up tomorrow to have on hand, but I really want to try NOT to take another medication. I take thyroid meds now.
