First Attempt at Recovery
This is the closing of my fourth day sober for the first time in seven years. I am doing this alone - partially because I have few family members/friends, and partially because I can't bring myself to tell anyone. Only my mother knows about my drinking problem, but I'm not ready to tell her about my sobriety. I must say that I truly admire everyone here for their courage and willingness to help others. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I wish you the best!
Welcome.
If your mother knows about your drinking problem, she would probably be thrilled to know that you're doing something about it. Just my $0.02.
And congrats on your first four days. That's a great beginning.

It's hard going it alone, I know......but I've found this site and all the wonderful people here to be a lifeline. So much information, encouragement, tips, etc. I bet you'll find a story or two that sounds just like you, and what you're going through.
Good luck on your personal journey! I'm on day 27 of sobriety, and I'm loving it (well, most of it, lol).
Peace,
~Heartfan

Hi poetic
No need to be ashamed since we r all here to support & encourage you. I hope you've considered AA as a means to learn further if you r truly alcoholic. If you have, then there's nthg to worry bout. Join nearest to you, get sponsor, do 90 in 90 & begin reclaiming the life you once had (probably) given up on.

Awesome, congratulations!
I've also been completely mum about quitting with those in my life... mostly just being still too secretive and protective about this part of my life. Anyway, that being the case, this website has made the difference between this time and the other times when I failed.
Stay close, reading and posting here will help you remember that you're not alone at all in this!
