Hi! looking forward to meeting you all and getting some valuable info and support... and maybe returning the favor too!
My name is first name is actually Don and I have been sober since April 6th, 2013 at 10:45PM... yeah even know the time.
I have been a "social drinker" since I was legal to drink... many years ago. But in the last couple of years it became an every night thing. I am a diabetic and my Drs have repeatedly told me to stop or moderate. I have also been diagnosed with severe depression off and on over the years.
After a horrible night and realizing I was sinking into a deep depression I decided to see if I could stop. So far so good, but dang is it a challenge.
Hope to participate and know I can vent when I need to.

You have some good reasons to stop drinking, and I'm glad to hear you've been sober for 12 days. There is lots of support here, so I hope you continue to read and post.

It's a challenge alright, but you can do it. Many of us here have gotten and stayed sober. You can do it too.
Good job on your sober days so far. Keep on keepin' on.
