Day 1
Hello all! I'm new to this and have never blogged before. I know that I need help with my problem and am reaching out to the community for some guidance.
Today is day one. The first step of many I will take over the course of my recovery. I don't drink daily but it seems every three days I do. I still have not figured out why I do what I do to myself?

Welcome to SR!
You'll find tons of useful information around here and great people.
I think 'why you do that to yourself' is because you're addicted to alcohol, or maybe because alcohol is addictive. The more you read around here, the more you'll understand that you're not alone in feeling that way, but there is hope if you commit to recovery and stop drinking.
Take it one day at a time. For now, just focus on today. Once you have one day down, the next day, you have that as an accomplishment to build on. And the days only come one at a time, so as long as you just focus on today... you'll be fine.
Congrats on deciding to quit.

Hi Bewitched
I spent years trying to work out why - some of us drank daily, some every 3 days, some not for months...some drank for fear, some for boredom, some to self-medicate, some to fit in, some for no discernible reason at all....
All of us had a problem and wanted to stop.
in the end, 'why' didn't matter as much as 'what' I decided to do to stop it, y'know?
you'll likely find things will be a lot clearer with some sobriety anyway
You'll find a ton of support here
welcome

I never figured it out either, Bewitched. The main thing is, you've recognized there's a problem and have come here for help. This is a great place for support and encouragement. We're glad you're here.
