Repetitous suggestions in AA
I was given some suggestions that were kind of repetitious when I started going to AA.
90 meetings your first 90 days.
Find a sponsor who will start you on the steps.
Use the phone.
Read the Big book
Get involved in service, offer to make coffee, push in chairs etc
Pray
I only took one of the suggestions, I went to 230 meetings my 1st 90 days, and I didn't drink but still I was miserable.
So Then , I surrendered and stopped doing it my way..
I went to a meeting a day
I found a sponsor, started working the steps.
I started using the phone.
Began reading the Big Book.
And I got involved in service.
And I prayed
And I didn't pick up.
You know what. There is a reason you hear those suggestions over and over again. Cuz they work!!!
I was speaking at the same detox I was in after 6 months.
Then at 11 months, I got a little too confident...
I let up on meetings
I stopped using the phone,
I let up on service,
I stopped picking up My Big Book.
I stopped working the steps with my sponsor
I stopped praying
And you know what came next...
I relapsed....
So I am back to meetings
I call my sponsor daily, am working the steps
I am praying
I read my Big Book
I am using the phone
I am doing service
And I am happy and sober again.
Simple but does require effort daily.
But I know I spent that much time drinking and drugging!!
I put those 6 things in front of a relapse. Now I know if I let up on even one of those things I am slipping back. What do you put in front of a relapse?

Prayer is a big one for me. I never forget to thank God every evening for another 24 hours of sobriety. Besides that, you hit the nail on the head. The simple steps odd AA are keeping me sober.
I definately have to work on myself everyday. I go to WFS meetings once a week because I like the program. It's for woman and it is about empowering outselves and not defining ourselves by our addictions.
I go to SMART meetings because I like the scientific approach. I've always been that way.
I go too AA to remember that I am an alcoholic, to remember that my dad has been thru this struggle and it keeps me grounded and humble.

Going to a AA beach party on the gulf this weekend.
Every Friday a sober bonfire!
Celebrations monthly!
Dances!
kareoke!
I help other newcomers and give them hope
I hear amazing and inspirartional stories of people who were at rock bottom and are now living a meaningful life.
I can call anyone day or night and they would come and help me in a jif.
I love The fellowship! I love my peeps! I do not ever have to be alone again!
Thank you Jesus!
I've heard this one a bunch..
Insanity is not doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results; insanity is doing the same thing over and ovr again knowing full well what the results will be.
