blood pressure!

I'm at the doctor, and my blood pressure was 114/64!!!

I think my blood pressure while I was still drinking averaged around 130/90, or higher.....I guess the drinking hurt my body more than cigs do....? (still smoking cigs & in process of quitting).

Interesting....

nice! . . . my blood pressure is still 130/90 .... Which actually is down a bit, but its mostly the cigs... (I was hoping it wouldn't be) I had quit smoking and still drank for awhile and had a 118/83. Guess cigs got to be the next to go. (for me)

Good job, way to be healthier

How long after quitting drinking did it take your BP to lower?

Thanks,

Lucky you! When I drink, my BP is usually around 170-110. When I quit and take my medication, it is around 120-80. Yeah I think the imbibing raises BP dramatically : (
Did you have blloodwork to check liver enzymes and such? That is the test that i truly hate.

Intensely High Blood Pressure is what sent me to the Emergency Room, then to Outpatient Treatment. It had been high for a while. That last week I had a continuous headache, and during another drinking episode I blacked out. When I got to the Emergency Room my BP was 200 over 120! I went into outpatient treatment, got sober, and have been on BP meds since. That was about 4-1/2 Months ago. I feel much better, headaches are gone, my BP hovers around 120 over 80, and I AM SOBER.

Peppy, this is the first time I've had it checked, and I'm almost at 3 months sober. So I'm not sure if it takes 3 months or not....

Cb, thanks!

Alcohol greatly increased my blood pressure (would be around 150/95 regularly when I drank), but after 2 months of sobriety, it was WAY better (about 128/82). My blood pressure was the WORST the morning after drinking, but I think it was high all the time. I am 6 months sober now. Best of luck.

My blood pressure is normal now, it was high when I was drinking... I was even on tablets for it. Now I have quit... it's normal 70/110 or 110/70 whichever side of the pond you are I still smoke like a chimney though. I believe all my functions are normal (last LFT and ultrasound 5 months ago) All looking tickety-boo... I may however fall under a bus tomorrow (Sorry British humour) And I shouldn't have cat-napped this afternoon... which is why I'm still awake!

My blood pressure was well into the Hyper tension zone when I drank even with BP meds. When I gave up it magically plunged to well within normal without the BP meds. Funny that!

Here - glad to hear your blood pressure went down. So did mine after I quit drinking. I used to take bp meds, now I don't have too I never realized that High Blood pressure can be caused by drinking.
