Arrow Okay, I'm here.

I don't have a clue how to live. I can't seem to get the courage to go back to meetings. I'm 2 days clean at this point, and I have strep throat and feel like hell. I'm trying to make it, but the seconds drag out, and I can't concentrate on anything but how awful I feel.

I've been in recovery before. I went to 2 meetings a day for 6 months and stayed clean. I know all the slogans, and tips, and cute little sayings, but I need some real help. I need friends. I don't have a single one.

I'm tired of fighting every day. At this point I'm only using once or twice a week, but I'm an emotional wreck.

Is alcohol you're drug of choice? Do you want to quit? I ask because it sounds like you're hanging onto the idea that you can drink (or use) in moderation. And that's pro baby stopping you from committing to quitting for good.

KYgirl,

Here's the help I wish I would have had 30 years ago, but it wasn't in writing yet! I'm posting a link from the Secualr Connections section of SR. On the first post is a list of the links to the first of the thread. Give it a read. I know it's long but it's full of wisdom.

AVRT and Rational Recovery helped me so much. You might want to look into the RR Crash course, it's online and free.

After learning about AVRT, coming to better understand addiction and having a plan for sobriety, my life got much easier and peaceful.

Check it out!

Love from Lenina

Thank you Lenina. I don't see a link, but I will search and find it right now.

AA is a good program too, you might check it out.

I hope AVRT and RR helps you as much as it does me.

I'm another AVRT person, and I highly recommend it. It's working for me after many desperate years.

You can do this.

Glad your here..

I am guessing you went to AA or NA meetings..

I am a AAer, and I know that it didn't matter how many meetings I went to, until I got a sponsor and worked the steps, and got a home group, got active coffee, chairing....

Did it begin... And you will find lots of support and friends here..

I still go to meetings almost daily, and if I were to miss more than two weeks in a row at any, my phone would not stop ringing..
