Day 3 (Again)...but learning!

Here I am again...Day 3. And it SUCKS!!!!! It sucks in a way that most people (who are lucky enough not to be an alcoholic) don't understand. I've heard many times that "if you loved me enough, you wouldn't drink". The only thing I can think is that if it were that simple, there would be a lot less alcoholics!

I finally joined here a few weeks ago (after lurking for 3 years) in hope that I had drank for the last time. Since that time I had to call Hospice in for my grandmother & my husband was laid off! After 10 days sober (& feeling great), it got to me & I drank....& went on a 4 day binge...sober again now on Day 3.

I WANTED to drink more on that binge...but I didn't. Instead, I focused on the help & support here & I am going to a Celebrate Recovery meeting tomorrow.

Has anyone been to Celebrate Recovery? Did it help?

Hi Willow!

My wife and I go to AA and NA meetings, but I hope you will find your meeting helpful! For me, it means a lot to know there are neighbors I can call if I need help.

I haven't been to one but I have heard good things about them. Getting together with people who do understand and are going through or have been through withdrawals and recovery can only help to strengthen your resolve. Stay strong Willow and keep moving forward. It can be difficult at times, but well worth the effort!

For me day 3's are still hell..

Every detox I ever had, the 3 day is when I finally stopped vomiting, held down water and soup, and usually get my first wink of sleep..

But you made it to 10 days that is awesome.... You can be free, but it takes time and work.. Enjoy that meeting, I also found my joy, happiness, and freedom from alcohol in AA..

But whatever works to help you live happy without the drink, is a win against alcohol.
