I Finally Went To A Meeting
I Finally Went To A Meeting
After a year and two months on this site, several bouts with on-the-wagon/off-the-wagon, I finally put my fears aside and attended my first AA meeting. It was a closed discussion and really nice to be around other alcoholics and listen them talk. I am naturally a quiet and reserved person so I wasn't going to speak up, but after everyone had their turn the group leader asked if I wanted to share. I said a few words, including that I was new. Someone around my age came up to me after the meeting and invited me to go with her to a meeting tomorrow.
I feel like I am beginning a new chapter in my life. I was having a really hard day today and walking into that meeting finally made a world of a difference.
I never would have done it without the support, encouragement, and wisdom that I have received on this forum. Thank you so much.

That's great news!
There is a ton of AA information on this site--usually a few folks make "thought for the day" posts here: Alcoholism-12 Step Support - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
