Lightbulb want to learn to live again.

My name is Jon. I've lost the last decade to addiction. I've broken two families and rarely see my children. I didn't start using substances until about 18, but for the life of me I can't remember how I used to live without chemical intoxication. I've recently realized that my addictive behavior does not affect me, alone. After I use something I make a promise that I'm done, but when I'm sober I forgot what was thinking.

Welcome, Jon!

Most of us here thought all those same things.

Thanks for joining!

Yah cne, I never thought I would go a day with out a drink/drug and it's been over 390 of those days. Just one day at a time. I'll tell ya it's a lot easier getting sober with others going in the same direction. AA/NA was my route, may not be yours.

But I wouldn't rule it out. Has worked for countless others. I went to an NA celebration last night, was an awesome time, lots of laughs and happy grateful sober and clean people. We've been there. You don't have to do this alone. Stay with this site as well, you'll find lotsa good positive support and no condemnation. It's pretty awesome! God Bless!

Jon, Welcome, and please know that you can do this. I also made promises to myself and let them go time and time again.

While I ultimately made the decision to get sober for myself, the best payoff is that I'm a better Mom

It's a journey Jon. It starts somewhere with a decision to change and a commitment to see it through. It's tough at first but it is worth it

I NEVER imagined a day of my life not high on pills so this sobriety stuff is pretty cool. I'm beginning to remember what the "simple joys" in life are again and BEST of all is I wake up every morning and DONT think about pills anymore!! It's like a BEAUTIFUL sunrise after a looooooong time in a dirty black hole. Welcome!!!!
