Hi
Hi Im new here and kinda new to being sober. I went from being a daily drinker to a binge drinker the past few years now im trying to take a big step and stop for good. Im just not entirely sure how. I had my last drink this past sunday and since than ive had the shakes everyday sometimes so bad I cant even get my keys in the ignition. Monday morning was by far the worst I had the cold sweats all day, the shakes, and i could barely get out of bed at like 2 in the afternoon. My girlfreind thinks I should go into rehab but im not sure. Any advice Would be greatfully appreciated.
Welcome JDBS!
Congratulations on your days sober.... If you're still having withdrawal symptoms, it wouldn't be a bad idea to at least talk to a doctor. Some doctors even specialize in addiction.
I think treatment is a great idea, too, if you can do it. Getting support is so important, especially in the early days. Glad you're here - this place helped me turn my life around.

Heya, good going on the 6? days!!
I'm not trying to scare you, but I'd get into an emergency ASAP. Quitting drinking cold turkey can be very dangerous!! They can help with the withdrawal symptoms as well so get yourself to a doc ASAP.
Keep up the great work!!

Im not sure if rehab is an option yet or not because I dont have insurance Im still waiting for a call back. As far as the withdraw goes Its sometimes really bad for a little bit and than I feel fine for a little while. Is it really something I should be worried about even after a week?
Welcome to SR JBDS Maybe you could go to an AA meeting and see what resources are available in your area. I didn't even know there was a detox facility in my area til I went to AA and met other alcoholics. Even without insurance there must be some free or low cost alternatives... Glad you're here x
