Addictions and the Dentist-PSA
Let's just add one more really good reason to quit drinking and smoking EARLY in life.
I have had all kinds of tooth problems in the last two-three years. I was unable to see the dentist regularly due to money issues so this is my own damn fault. Doesn't make it easier to deal with. I've had to have 4 teeth pulled due to gum disease. The infections just keep coming back. Now I find out that if I continue to smoke there isn't really a solution to the problem. I'm sure the alcohol was contributing greatly as well over the years.
The good news is, if you stop smoking and drinking and have regular cleanings and floss it can be controlled. The bad news, if you don't the infections could lead to a heart attack. In my case, I didn't have any of the normal symptoms of gum disease yet I have it. It is often silent and present. I don't want anyone to go through what I have been dealing with!!
I know when we drink all kinds of personal care regimens get ignored or neglected, so here's motivation to keep up with caring for your teeth!

I didn;t care for my teeth at all for most of the time I was drinking - I've been really lucky that although I have had to have a LOT of work done, I've only lost one tooth.
I'm a strict 3 times a day brusher and regular flosser now. It really paid off the last time I saw the dentist.
I hope this is the end of the dental work for you too FF
