sober day 50

Background: I have bipolar disorder.

I'm in a mixed episode right now. I usually handle it by drinking strong coffee and booze depending on if I'm in a mania or in a depression (just realized this recently) I'm going through a mania right now... This will be the first time doing it without booze... :/ I'm not sure how to handle it really. I've been very angry. I used to like the feeling of going in to a manic episode. Not anymore. which is good. hmmm.

Thanks for letting me share.

Hello. I am happy to hear that you are choosing to not drink. Are you seeing a doctor for these episodes? Keep posting. We are here for you!

Figure out how to release your anger. Can you punch a pillow? Scream in it? What will help to get that stuff out of you? Time to change old habits.

Also, when coming upon every 30 days of sobriety, we go through emotional and physical changes, so at 50 days, you are coming upon 60....

Just be vigilant and keep moving forward!!!!

You are doing great!!!!

Hey Melvin First, congrats on 50 days, that's awesome! You sound like you have great insight into your condition and because of that I think you will be able to manage well without the caffiene and booze this time around.

Perhaps the episode won't last as long now that you aren't self medicating?

Yeah. I have an appointment next week too. This episode just started the end of last week. I'll have a chance to go over it with him. Thanks.

Hey... you have a good point. I bet you're right. Substance always seems to prolong the agony, contrary to the way of addict thinking... That makes me more hopeful thank you!

50 days is awesome! I'm at 54 & have found myself with a great deal of anxiety the past few days. My mood swings have been a lot more manageable though without the alcohol in my system.

Keep up the good work! !!!

Congratulations on your 50 days! It is a challenge to get sober as well as deal with mental health issues; I have wicked issues with depression and anxiety. Both, however, have been less of an issue now that I'm sober. May be your manic episodes won't be as big of a swing now that you are sober....

Take care of you!

It sounds like you are doing the right thing

Congrats on 50 days! Also, it sounds like you are doing the right thing by making a doctor 's appointment and staying clean and sober!

Congrats on fifty days sober. I hope you find a solution at your doctor visit to make you feel better and less manic.

I am glad I made you a little more hopeful I don't have bipolar disorder but was diagnosed with anxiety and although I still get anxious at times it is far and few between and usually for an actual reason. When I was drinking I was anxious every day and having a lot of panic attacks. Sobriety has definitely allowed me to handle it better when it does happen.
