Lets try this again...
Hello friends. I have been struggling with addiction for over 25 years, the scary thing is I'm 37. I have been dry on and off over the years. I have no doubt in my mind that I'm a functional alcoholic. Last week I decided to try to quit drinking yet again, I made it about 24 hours. I had a terrible time falling asleep and woke up every hour. I felt horrible the next day, I was tired, irritable, spaced out with anxiety as well. I ended up drinking again just to feel normal. Any advice to get over the withdrawal hurdle?
The only thing to do is to get through it. The first few days are brutal, but you never have to go through it again. It's always a good idea to talk to your dr before you begin to detox because it can be dangerous.
It may be wise to see a doctor and be brutaly honest about your drinking.
There are people here using different recovery programs as well, that may help.

Nothing is easy. I stopped on a Monday. I went to work and busted my butt did not stop off and came home. I did stuff around the house until late at night then went to bed. The weekends I have planned out as well. If you have anytime always do something and keep busy.

When I don't drink, I have a heck of a time sleeping. Which always results in a headache. I've just decided the best thing to do is wear yourself down. Reading always makes me sleepy. A good book and a nice warm glass of "Bedtime Tea" usually does the trick.
