Not unique, why is that always a surprise?
Tonight I hung out with some friends from the rooms and met some really nice women they know. As we were chatting over dinner some stories came up about things they did or that happened while they were drinking. I was the newest newbie there and I guess my experience is so fresh that I forget that these women were once where I am but just in a different time.
I saw them as so well put together, talking about their families, their daily lives fraught with their kids events and husbands strange work hours. But I also heard their humility and saw the true appreciation for the little things in their lives.
Their past stories were of being in prison, hurting people while they were driving drunk, losing relationships.
And they have moved on and seem content. The AA promises reads "We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it" And I want that. And I am getting there little by little. I love seeing that hope and reading about it on here. So many cool & inspiring now sober people to meet

You will get there. Its one day at a time. Self forgiveness is a huge one for me. I have to be able to forgive what I have done. I have to be able to look at what has happened with a open heart, knowing that i did the best that I could. I'm working on it slowly. ....like you are. We can do this. Thank you for the positive light.

You follow in their footsteps and you will be the happy secure woman that a newcomer in this room will be talking about someday. It's nice to see the effect working the program has on people. Won't be long for you either.
