Hey
Hey..am new ..anyway of late cant sleep sober ..I get night sweats, tight. chest ,palpitations ,shortness of but when drunk I sleep well,...so is it possible that the above are withdrawal symptoms?
I experience all of the above when sleeping sober after drinking, I also have waking dreams were I jolt in bed, but the palpitations are probably the worst for me. I find after a couple of nights of sober sleep it eases off (although I've only ever made it to two consecutive nights, but I did notice a vast improvement).
Hope to see you around the forum.
Hello. When my addiction to alcohol increased, I noticed the very same sleeping problems you mentioned. They came more frequently and were more severe as time passed. I never had shortness of breath though, but I did have panic attacks and high anxiety quite often. Are you planning on quitting? Have you quit before?

Good for you that you went to the Dr. Yes, alcohol does hide and/or mimic symptoms that you might have for real or don't have, but you can still freak yourself out thinking something is wrong with you.
The 'sleep' you get while drinking is not true sleep. It's akin to being passed out. Yes the dreams of real sleep can be disturbing - especially if you are not used to being woken up by a dream or even remembering your dreams.
Please take care of yourself - I am still dealing with having trouble getting to sleep but I plan on handling it with activity rather than drinking.
