New and Really needing help

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site and new to at least trying to live sober, but this is harder than i expected and I would love to have someone to talk to that knows what I am going through. I am addicted to pain killers. Please help me.

Thank you!
Brooke

Hi Brooke - I moved your thread here - the forum you posted in is not the chat room, but a forum for admin things about the chat room

if you want to go to the chat room, the char room portal is on the right hand side at the top of the page, under where it says welcome - just click the 'chat room' link

Welcome Brooke! I'm an alcoholic, but there will be others who can relate to a painkiller addiction. We are so happy you joined us - this is the best place to be for support, encouragement, and hope. I'm glad you reached out for help - you can do this.

Hi brooke, welcome to SR! I am a painkiller addict too and I know how hard it is to try to quit and stay in recovery. Coming to SR has been a big help to me, lifesaving really, especially when I'm having cravings. You might also want to check out the Substance Abuse forum too where you'll find a lot of folks dealing with the same exact addiction. This whole site is a great place to find support, information and wisdom. Hope you stick around!

I was addicted to narcotics for a few years, it was hell, the roller coaster. The pills made me happy, then bitchy, then happy...around and around. Tried to use pot and alcohol to counteract the bitchiness. Just ended up drunk, then a hangover and needed the pills to feel better. Sometimes my skin would itch so bad I would scratch the sides of my legs until they were black and blue.
The only thing that stopped me was the fact that my doctor would not prescribe them for me anymore without doing a UA, and that would have shown my pot use and they would have stopped prescribing them, so I just never went back. I was getting them online but then place I was getting them online shut down. I couldn't bring myself to buy them off the street and couldn't have afforded it anyway, so that was the end of that. I kept drinking and smoking pot, once and addict, always an addict.
However, I now have 8 months pot and alcohol free thanks to my final DUI.
