New here.

I've been on Antabuse for a week and have gone a week since I took my last drink. It's a struggle every day but I havn't slipped yet.

Nice work. How does the Antabuse make you feel otherwise? I've tossed around the idea but am wary of any kind of nasty side effects...

Thanks everyone. I have had no side effects from it. I take one tablet every morning and it takes away the argument in my head as to whether or not I drink that night. (Because the winner of the argument was always the "Yes, I will" side.)

I took antabuse for awhile and then it started to make my feet go numb. I think maybe after 5 or so months. After I stopped, I went straight back to drinking. I think it is because you don't work on the issues while on antabuse and so when you stop there is nothing holding you back. But it worked wonders for me, cause my husband gave it to me.

How long did you wait between stopping the antabuse and drinking again?

I said it on the other thread, and I'll say it again. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about how long before it's "safe" to drink.

Why do you want to go back to drinking, anyway? It takes a while before sobriety feels good. Why not take advantage of your antabuse to stay stopped long enough to get into a recovery program and be free of this?

Good for you! I was on antabuse and stopped taking it and drank a week later and I was so sick , thought I was literally dying of a heart attack, my face was red as a tomatoe. I was told it would make me sick and I still drank. Drinking was a very small part of my problem. My problem has been an inside job which has been a huge ego deflating process. I needed support such as AA/NA.

I found a solution in the steps of AA/NA.
