2 1/2 weeks in..

Hey everyone,

I had my last drink on February 24th. This is my first real attempt at quitting. I've been abusing alcohol since I was 18, got a DUI when I was 19, and started to see my health decline because of alcohol for the first time in the last year (I'm 24 now). I don't really have any idea how to do this. I'm living in a foreign country with a heavy drinking culture right now so there is a lot of temptation.

Anyways I just wanted to come out and say this to somebody, even if it's random people on the internet.

Congratulations on 2 1/2 weeks!

We're not really random. Most of us who hang around here are staying sober, and have wisdom to share.

Welcome to SR Nate...I had my last drink on February 23rd.

You need to have supports. SR is a good place to start and read. Also connect to people who can help.

Thanks guys. Sorry about the "random internet people" comment if that seemed dismissive. I actually am here for help and support. Like I said above I'm in a foreign country which makes it somewhat tougher to reach out. I'm hoping this will be a resource.
