OT - Keys Dive trip

You can always count on seeing lots of critters diving in the Keys. This trip we stayed at Islamorada.. on our way down to Key West

Me and a massive Stingray

My buddy who doesn't even like diving got the magazine cover quality shot

And a 6 foot nurse shark

So lovely, Jazzman, thanks for sharing.

I've snorkeled but never dived. It was like sticking my head in a fish tank - a whole 'nother world! I bet diving is even more so!

Thank you for sharing the pics!

Good reminder for me to get my butt back to Grand Cayman, rofl I knew there was
something I have been missing, lmao

Beautiful pics!!!!!

I am MORE afraid of the turtles than anything else cause I never know which ones are
'snapping' and their bites can really really HURT, lol I also get to swim with the Dolphins when down there, no pool, just the ocean and the ones that are people friendly
come to play with us.

Again thank you. I am checking my calendar now, to see when I can go for at least
10 days.

Love and hugs,

Oh that looks fantastic Jazzman.
Good for you.
I saw a lot of turtles in Koh Tao, just priceless.
Thanks for sharing your adventures, keep them coming please.

I love your diving photos. It allows me to see what it's like without ever having to get wet!

I sure hope you were using 'zoon' on the camera and not actually that close to the
turtles!!!

AS I have stated I have this unexplainable 'fear' of the turtles. Other underwater
creatures, even sharks and eels do not bother me the way a turtle does, lol

Thank yo for sharing the video!!! It is making want to go to Cayman more and
more urgent, lmao I've already contacted my pet/house sitter to see what block
of days she can live in my house, and now have to figure out which block is good
for me.

Thank you for giving me a 'boot in the butt' and a reminder of one of the things
I enjoy doing!

Love and hugs,

Nope. That's how close I was. Fortunately it wasn't a snapping type
If you go Grand Cayman I can tell you I stayed at the Westin Casuarina right smack in the middle of seven mile beach and it was absolutely fabulous. Also the Kaibo Beach Bar & Grill is a must see. The most perfect beach front restaurant on the planet, hands down. It's up near Rum Point. Take lots of money with you.

Jazzman I have been to the Caymans many times, rofl and have friends down there
so I do not have to stay in a hotel.

I am very familiar with the whole place, lol and you are correct the one thing to be
sure to take to Grand Cayman is lots and lots and lots of CASH, lmao

Even non snapping turtles of that size can and do bite! So I keep my distance from
them.

Love and hug,

You sound like me when I was a kid, watched Jacques Cousteau religiously (dating myself) and planned to be an oceanographer and grew up spending weekends at the Chesapeake bay where my parents kept their boat. Anything in the water, on the water or under the water, that's me.

Sorta... I vacation with a group of friends every year and one year I signed up for the open water course with the on site dive operator at the resort. Of course everyone thought I was wasting good vacation time taking the course there but I got to dive every afternoon and practice skills I learned at the pool in the morning.

Scuba Caribe

It was actually much cheaper than taking a "partial course" locally then travel/transfer and complete the open water course at a later date. Which around here was my only option. Diving in some cold, dark, no visibility rock quarry didn't seem quite as appealing as diving a coral reef! I liked Scuba Caribe in Negril so much I went back the next year by myself and took the advanced course.

In time the others I vacation with felt left out and eventually got certified. I guess you could say I started my own club! Local dive shops organize trips so you can always meet dive groups that way. Once you dive with a stranger they become life long buddies. Buy a camera and you make a lot of friends fast! Fist step is to just get certified.

I just want to cheer you on. You are absolutely right! I spent a good year trying things out that appealed to me and then one day I bought a new camera. The rest is history, lol.
