I hate being an alcoholic! Trying again to quit!
I am ready to get sober! It just gets worse. I never realized just how dangerous and really how sick I can get. After 20 years I am so done ! 10 years ago I was sober for thrree years but I wasn't finished. Alcohol has taken everything from me, relationships, possible children, career, school. It really is amazing how disgusting this disease is. I can't do it , it will kill me! Its destroying me!
Welcome, Sharker!
Why not try reading the posts in the March 2013 thread that is in this same section? You will find lots of company in working to become sober.
One thing to think about: if alcoholism is a disease, then how can it be "disgusting"? People like us who are alcoholics often act in ways we very much don't like. Feeling huge amounts of shame can, imho, be an obstacle to accepting our limitations and not drinking. There are lots of good resources here to help us in becoming and staying sober. I think you'll find much support!
Good luck to you!

How did you get sober for 3 years in the past? It's great to know you've gone through this before and have had success. You can build on that. Do you know what made you start up again? Best of luck on this, it's encouraging that you are here.
Welcome Sharker
Yep it really will kill you if you let it, but only after it's sucked you dry in every way imaginable.
It's good to have you here, and fighting back

Thanks!
Thank you! Dating and a vacation started me drinking again. Once I started that was it! I also stopped going to meeting! The three years, when I was going to meetings, worked. Meetings worked for me.

Im glad you reached out. That is always very difficult, but very necessary to admit to ourselves & then to others we can't do this on our own.
The great part is, when you admit & ask for the help, there are so many resources & people out there that want to help you live a sober happy life.
Im only 52 days sober, so All I can say is we don't have to do this alone.
Prayers, Stay Strong.

Get back to the meetings and you'll be back on track in no time.
All the best.
