Welcome to SR Markus. It's good that you recognize what needs to happen. Some never see what alcohol does to them & keep on trying to control it. We alcoholics know once we take that first drink, there is no control - and anything can happen.
You sound ready to kick it out of your life. Sharing with people who really understand what you're going through will help a lot. You aren't alone. You can do it, Markus - and have a new life.

Hey Marcus,
Congrats! You probably don't feel like celebrating but you should because you made a HUGE step towards rejoining the human race. To CHOOSE to put the bottle down is HARD but the fact that you did it means that you can now re-invent yourself and evolve to your true potential. You have the power to do it; the universe gave you the ability to make sound choices (free-will) and you are supposed to use it to good effect.

Good luck Marcus,

Welcome Markus, I'm glad you've made the decision to stop drinking. Alcohol turned me into a person that I hated. Know for sure that you can stop drinking, and be the person you want to be. We're here for you.
This is a great place for support and information Markus. We all can identify with what you are going through! I have found it useful to repeat to myself "I will not drink....no matter what." It has been hard, but I have faith that it will be worth it!
Please don't beat yourself up, it only continues the vicious cycle. I relaspe last night, but instead of letting the depression and guilt consume me and tempt me to reach for a bottle, I spent most of my day on SR reading and posting and then going to an AA meeting.
