OT: Defended my dissertation!
OT: Defended my dissertation!
Hi dear SR friends,
I successfully defended my dissertation today! Brought my youngest (15) daughter along and had a great day seeing some of my grad school friends & celebrating afterwards. What a long haul through some really tough times, but I am on the other side of it now...So grateful for so many things, not the least of which has been the support of SR folks during a challenging time.
Thank you!

congratulations garden mama!!
I know how hard it can be to stay focused and get the work done (I was writing my thesis during my first round of experiencing a relapse...almost lost my degree due to the pain and confusion I was experiencing!)
It speaks to the strength and integrity of your character, that you can turn to your own calling and complete your work...so proud of you for pulling through and accomplishing your goal! XOXO!!

Thank you all for your congratulations. It is a great relief, indeed!
The crazy-amazing thing about it is that I wrote my most difficult chapter when I first found SR in June, while researching rehabs and living with my AD for two weeks while she wandered around town and we all waited for a spot to open up in a rehab. When I think about it now, I suspect that working on my dissertation was one thing I had complete control over and I gave that my attention because I realized there was nothing I could control about her any more...I guess I surrendered at that point, and put my energies on something I did have control over. Our recoveries can be filled with as many amazing stories as our addicts' recoveries. Now that is a codie realization for sure!

((GardenMama)) - AWESOME!! You are living proof of "the courage to change the things that I can" Thanks for the reminder to focus on what I do have control over and letting the rest go.
Hugs and prayers,
Amy
