You're starting off just fine! I found this place a year ago when I knew I had a problem - alas I didn't post much. Now that I've been clean for almost 8 months, I come here daily to voice my own thoughts and give feedback when people ask questions, it really helps!

Are you planning to quit drinking? Maybe you could share a bit about your situation and see if there are any like-minded folk out there who can chip in? It looks like others in the same boat as you are already lending an ear!

Welcome Wdolphingirl95

You'll find a lot of support here, a lot of encouragement, and a lot of really great people.

Feel free to read around as much as you like or post and tell us a little more about yourself

My story

Well I'm 35 and have been drinking heavily for almost a year. Drank before that but it has progressively worsened. My desire to want to stop drinking has been for a long time coming. Yesterday I hit rock bottom by laying out of my job, uncontrollably crying, missing college. Granted my job is very stressful and I have 3 boys at home and two of which are 16 and 18. They constantly fight and my job requires to me work long hours and I attend college full time most of the time. My life is so filled with stress and I feel like tequila makes it all calm down. I did make an appt with doctor today she prescribed me campral to help me curve this addiction that is taking my life over. She also put me on Lexapro. Wish me luck! Only first day sober and I have the shakes and crying and loss of appetite. My husband reassures me it will be ok and is supporting me 100%!

I am sorry to hear that. I have a similar issue. About a year ago I quit my job after 10 successful years at the company and began drinking full time. Up until that point, I had drank steadily more and more, but when things at work started to unravel I blamed it on company politics and turned to the bottle. I live alone with no support, and nobody was there when I finally broke down. It took having more than one withdrawl seizure (in front of my family on Christmas Eve, the first one) in public to finally get people on board to help me fix the problem. I chose rehab as my best option, because my withdrawls were so severe and my health was in tatters. It worked wonders, but it has definitely been a tough road. It's rewarding though. It sounds like you have a plan in place and support! Keep reading and posting, I think it helps to share your feelings and be honest. Thanks for sharing your information!

Welcome and good for you for talking to your dr and getting on the recovery path. It's great that your husband is supportive.

If you find you can get and stay sober, sane and serene on your own ... that's great.

If you find the longer you are without booze the worse things get then come join me in Alcoholics Anonymous.

All the best .

Well day 2, started out with my kids yelling so i went to work aggravated. Not a good thing. Didn't cry though and that's a plus! The shakes are better today. Took my meds as prescribed and felt a little better. Finally at home and now getting ready to grocery shop. But as soon as I hit the front door, I went straight to the freezer and opened it in hopes of some relief. Didn't find the tequila there, was relieved but this is so hard. Everyday I would come home after a long day of work and school and take 3 shots immediately to calm my nerves in order to deal with the stress of my home. I really hope this feeling gets better.
