Work outing tomorrow (day 4)

I was talking to a friend (not an alcoholic) about how I'm trying to not drink, feeling good today (day 3) but was worried about a going away party tomorrow night for a coworker. My friend prodded me, "Why do you like to drink?"

I responded, "less inhibitions" (to avoid the long drawn out answer). Her response struck me like lightning- "Well why would you want to lower your inhibitions at a work function? Isn't that a time when you should be on best behavior?"

Hmm, certainly food for thought so I thought I'd share.

Is there a way out of it? Or do you have to go?
Your so early in the process of recovery. Please have a plan before you go!

I like your friends way of thinking Rosie! If you have to go, don't drink and lessen your inhibitions, give your co worker a sober way to remember you

Your friend is right. Never do anything that will make you look foolish in front of co-workers or bosses. Congrats on 4 days.
