day 3 sober

well i've been drinking heavy now for almost two years. Like half a bottle of whiskey every night and more when i'm out partying. so i finally decided I want to kick this thing before I go down the road too far. It's my third night going to bed sober. My appetite is close to none. I don't sleep much at all. I had two bananas and a taco today and i kno i should be hungry but i'm not. I'm worried i've already inflicted too much damage but I still want to try to stay sober. Any thoughts?

you're doing the right thing, and you're facing the toughest time right now. your body is in shock because it's gotten used to drinking. you haven't 'inflicted too much damage' because you're still alive. our bodies are resilient things, and the best time to stop drinking is NOW - you're already 3 days beyond NOW, so you have a headstart. Just focus on remaining sober and don't let negative thinking beat you down.

Hi thelonghaul - welcome

If you drank for years, it's gonna take a little time for your mind and body to sort themselves out.

Try not and freak out. If you're concerned it's best to see a Dr - it's often good to do that anyway.

If thats not an option for you that's your call - try and relax and see how you feel in a few days

Hey thelonghaul. Welcome to SR.

Sleeping and eating was hard for me at first. One thing that helped me feel somewhat better was to drink A LOT of water to help flush my system and re-hydrate.
