if you're gonna double post, i'll just double reply from the F&F for Alcoholics side. and thank you darling for such a nice welcome.
thanks. when I saw the post regarding CarolID it was no longer a question about coming back, if for no other reason than to pay my respects.
life is good! the beasts are shiny, well-fed, happy. hank's on layoff since the week before Christmas, work for me has been crazy busy so having him home has been a really good thing, here keeping the home fires burning.
we had this insanely huge and important grant application to get out and it just consumed me - on the day it was due we got the 864 page file to our copy center by 4 pm, needing 6 full one sided paper copies, and I was driving like a crazy woman to Fed Ex with a deadline of 6pm, and got them timestamped by 5:43pm!
I have three more grants with mar 5 due dates. we are in the midst of a series of FIVE faculty candidates flying in for visits, rounds of interviews and giving seminars, all of which falls under my task list. I took last Friday off, plus we had Monday off, so I got 4 wonderful days to rest and relax. I turned my phone off on Saturday AM and didn't check work email til late Sunday night. I napped, and napped and napped some more. my sleep has been so fitful I absolutely needed to get caught up. my rest came suspiciously close to looking like sloth.
life is good. did I say that? hank and I remain dearest and most tolerable of friends. the only time I wanted him out of the house was so I could run the dyson. he has elevated his cooking skills to chef status. he got me an electric griddle for xmas and now I can make my world famous pancakes. we are so OVER the nfl playoffs and results. pfft. we plan to go to the mariners game later this year when ken Griffey jr is inducted into the M's hall of fame, with my daughter and her sweetie. we haven't taken in a vacation in years now....and while there are places we'd like to go and see someday, we don't feel we are missing anything. altho I may be temporarily envious that my boss is on a two week vaca in maui.......again.
good to be back!

Welcome back, Anvil. Hope life slows down for you soon and glad to see you again. We will surely miss CarolD, she was a mentor and friend and I will never forget her.
Things have changed around here, we are all cured now and left our problems behind...well maybe not, lol, so roll up your sleeves and set a spell, the coffee's still free.
Hugs

thanks for the wonderful welcome! funny i don't see life as crazy right now...just super busy and requiring i use all the skills i have gathered over the years. our 2nd candidate had his first full round of interviews today and giving a presentation, lunch with faculty members and then more interviews. grueling. this guy is considered a rock star in the field...and MY GOD is he handsome. yeah i said it. i had to escort him between offices so we had a chance to chat for like 30 seconds...he's a very nice personable individual...and i have done my best to make sure his arrangements went smoothly and there were no hiccups or problems during his visit. got a very nice thank you email from our candidate from last week. there are some things i do very well.....and right now at work i get the chance to BE what they expect and more.
the beauty of it all is when i get to share my day with hank...he went to a buddy's today to get some auto repair stuff done and should be home in an hour or so. i can share my day with him and how handsome our latest candidate is, in my opinion. and he'll say "easy there girl" and know there is no threat. anymore than the threat i feel from Selma Hyak, his dream girl. and the dogs will be beyond themselves that daddy's home...and i'll inform him that i FORGOT we were OUT of coffee for the morning. and life will go on.

Speaking of dogs, I think we need an updated picture? A friend on the whiner's forum was talking about her dog eating the rhodie (not sure if it was her rottie) and I told her about Della eating yours
Glad to know you can deal with Mr. Handsome at work, but still come home to "hunky Hank" and feel good
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

I was recently one of those candidates on a few occasions and I wanted to let you know that I have always so much admired the organizers of these interviews/campus visits. I still worship the one who had rescheduled everything when I got too sick to travel on the morning of my flight. I just wanted to let you know that your work is very much appreciated!
