Ready for Spring

I don't know about you, but February for me is the hardest month to get through emotionally and physically. All I feel like doing is hibernating. Low energy, feel kind of flat emotionally, just don't feel "right". In the past, I'd find myself drinking fairly heavily this month just to get through. Thankfully, I'm just over 5 months sober now and have no desire to drink, but still feel the dreaded February blahs. I've even bought myself a light that simulates sunshine to improve my mood (can't tell if it's working or not, but I use it every day). Anyway, I can't wait for longer days, shorter nights and warmer weather. Anyone else feel the same? How are you getting through the month?

For me, even with 22 yrs. sobriety, the
first few months of the new year is the
hardest to get thru as I anxiously await
for warmer weather. Thank God I don't
have a desire to drink today and am
grateful for a program of recovery I
incorperate in my every day life to guide
me thru these tough days of Winter.

There is a wonderful useful saying in
recovery that I remember and apply
in situations like this ......

This Too Shall Pass

And sure enough this saying makes
alot of sense because this time of the
year will definitely pass and the summer
months are straight ahead of us to enjoy
and cherish a day at a time sober. Yeah...!!!!

Shoebox.... I hear ya! Love spring. I bought five hyacinths to make the house smell like spring. I watched TV last night and I felt so relaxed and happy.

But consider the fun in anticipation of it all. The excitement of when it arrives. It is sweeter for the wait.

I also bought some Hyacinths for the first
time and they smell AWESOME. Soooooo
sweet..! Spring is a new beginning, new
life, new lots of things.

I have oodles of bulbs planted in my yard
waiting with anticipation for warm weather
to bring them out of the ground and produce
lots of red colors to my garden.

Spring is watching the Beautiful Red Cardinals
chirp and fly in to my red feeders filled with lots
of seeds to nibble on. Besides the Cardinals there
are many other varieties to accompany them
during their feeding time. They also fill the air
with song and one can't help but look to the
trees beginning to bud and think about the lovely
gifts in recovery that surround us each day.

Flowers, birds, butterflies, the smell and look
of Spring is in the air and ready to enjoy.

I absolutely know how you feel Shoebox! Maybe that's why I'm feeling a bit bleurgh... We've had a couple of warm(ish) sunny days, the snowdrops are out, the daffodils and crocus are trying... and now it is freezing again!

I love the lighter mornings/evenings and the birds singing though - won't be long now
