remember me who was so not ready to quit ?
Well, I stopped drinking on January 1st. I was not in denial so much as not realising I was fed up with drinking.
Anyway, I'm very grateful that I stopped for good instead of my on the wagon bouts of 3, 6 months every year.
I find it less hard this time because I'm not always anxious for the date of my drinking to start again.
All in all, everything is going fine. I just sometimes wished that my life were drastically better instead of being just sort of the same. I know my body profusely thanks me. And I guess I'm more impatient and angry too. This I hope will go away.
the one thing I'm truly grateful for is being very present at parties, bars, and dinners and for friends and families.
How are you guys been doing ? Is there a January post ?

Good for you Dorothy! Emotions were also pretty strong my first couple of months sober. Particularly anger as well. It fizzled out a bit but I am only 3 months in and know I have a lot more work to do...or rather "always" to do. It can only get better though
good to see you again DP - and congratulations

Way to go, Dorothy!
Hang in there, because things really do get better. I have to admit it took some work and I had plenty of bad days, but when I remembered to take it a day at a time (and let go of some of the stress I usually create for myself!), it was a lot easier.
Congratulations on your sobriety - that's awesome!
