Hello;

I am hoping to make contact so as to support my sobriety and perhaps support others.

I am an alcoholic who has been sober for years but lately there is strong temptation and I am worried.

Anything anyone offers will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Robert

If you are urging tell yourself...

"I am a non-drinker so I must be doing something rite. This is perfectly normal and I have urges that I dont act upon all the time."

Ive used this with clients and have worked wonders to fight cravings. Also, its best to make that still picture in your mind into a movie and play out all of the painful consequences if you pick up again.

Ask yourself "Why is becoming and staying a non-drinker a MUST for me?" Write down 10 best compelling reasons you can think of...that is unless you want to go back?

Once an addict/alcoholic, Always one. Don't do it Robert! It's not worth it. Ask your HP to help with this craving, and give it some time. It's good your reaching out.

Yes, yes, play that movie. It's a nightmare not worth living.

Hi Robert. I too once was sober for years & got those same type feelings, I became complacent, unable to deal with life, & drank again for 4.5 years . Sober now!

Good for you for recognizing what's happening & with lengthy sobriety I'm sure you could help lots of folks here too.

Welcome.
