Well I'm back

I don't know why I had myself convinced I didn't have a problem. I need to stop the drinking and it starts today.

I don't know why we do it, Philly - but I did it for decades! It's so hard to let go, but you will love your new life. You'll be free from that toxic stuff. You can do it.

I couldn't see much when I was in the midst of my drinking.

Glad you're back. It's the addict mind trying to convince you that there is no problem. When you learn to recognize the voice and dismiss it, it's a big step forward.

I just have no idea why I continue to do the things I do. I love playing sports, exercising and all around things that don't involve drinking. I shouldn't drink and jeopardize my health. I need to get rid of all the shot glasses, wine glasses, beer glasses etc.

There's no logic to it I think - it's more visceral than that.
Welcome back Phillyphan8811 - whats your plan now?

My plan is to quit, live a healthier life style, and read some literature on help quitting. The good thing is my brother (my roommate) quit and so did my one good friend. I have options.

When I decided to quit drinking I got rid of all the alcohol in the house AS WELL AS got rid of all drinking-related glasses, wine bottle openers, any alcohol pictues, magnets, coasters...all the "stuff" that was directly linked to my drinking. I felt bad for getting rid of my wine glasses but it was a must for me. I think you are on the right path!

Why don't you give them to Goodwill? They can make money with them.

Quitting was easy for me. Staying quit was the difficult part. What's the plan for staying quit?

All the best in your journey

Welcome back!

It sounds like you already have a built in support group, excellent!

Glad you have come back to us and look forward to hearing about your success!

When I gave it up all my pint glasses were sold to a friend, so I think that you have the right idea.

Peace and sobriety to you!

Honestly, I'm a health nut. I also am on various sports teams. Today I got up at 4:30 to go to the gym. I'm still feeling a bit ill but it is subsiding. I do have a lot of hobbies that don't have to involve drinking: Comic books, video games, running, gym, sports etc. The big thing for me is going to be not getting caught up w/ the after sports socials at bars etc.

In all honesty I'm glad to get this bar going out of the way. I'm sick of waking up with big tabs on my debit card. I'm sick of seeing "Liquor Control Board" charges. I just want to turn over a new leaf.

I'm hoping to get a mountain bike this spring. I already do my spinning class 4 or more times a week.
