Suboxone Addiction

Is it possible that hormonal change can caused addiction? I need help in figuring out why I became addicted to Suboxone. I took Sub. because stopping the Percocets were too hard, so I thought this wonder drug called Suboxone would help. Now, 4 years later, I'm still taking Sub and enjoying it. It helps me with my depression and gives me energy. The things I don't like about the drug are the nasty never ending withdrawals (I tried stopping once), the price, constipation and the forgetfulness I get when taking around 16mg's.. I also find myself abusing the drug like I did the Percocets. How can I stop this? I was considering Hypnotism. I tried rehabs, but they don't get to the "root" of the problem as to why I became addicted to drugs in the first place. I need to seek a specialist in Suboxone and someone who will first find out the cause of my addiction. Maybe I have a deficiency in endorphin's. My Sub. doctor is very patient with me, but his patients are in and out of his office in less than 10 minutes. He's not there to help, he's there to make money. In other words, he's a legal drug dealer. Thanks for listening.

You're right that you do have to get at the root of your problem. I had many things to figure out in my life when I stopped drinking. I knew I had been drinking to 'hide' from reality. I needed to take a leap of faith and look at my life as it was, rather than what I wanted it to be. It was so very hard, but necessary to move on.

Could therapy be something that would help you? And, good for you for continuing to work on your recovery.

I can relate. I also am addicted to suboxone and now alcahol. I'm in 3 yrs subixone and I no longer see a dr for it. It's cheaper to buy from those selling they're extras. I was also addicted to percocets and thought it was a miracle drug. In some ways it is but it's not advertised as also being very addictive. For now I'm working on the drinking that's far worse in my eyes. I wish you the best!
