I hope I didn't offend anyone but as soon as it ended I was the first one out the door. I liked it. Just listened.

Listening is all you need to do but AA is so much more when you get to know the people. Take it a step at a time and move forward as soon as you can

Kudos for going!! One thing about meetings is you can't offend anyone!!

At our closings we hold hands and someone says.. A moment of silence for the people suffering inside and outside of the room.. Followed by the serenity prayer.. Then everyone says.. Keep coming back it works if you work it and you're worth it!! Some would say its corny, it makes my day!! It's like a daily cleansing to me!!

Keep up the good work!!

Good for you! You did better than me. I got up a few minutes before it ended and high tailed it!

Keep going!

Kudos to all the people that make it sound easy. Holy crap. It was about 25-30 people. All they talked about was what it was like being new to AA and the first step. Was not sure if there were other newcomers there as they did not ask if anyone was new.

It is a club and they have meetings every day. I did like what everyone had to say so I will go back for sure. I know the jitters will eventually pass.

Well done!

Your post has just inspired me to at least find out whether there is a meeting local to me, and there is.

Go for it. I have been to 2 meetings and s**t a brick both times, but it was worth it. It sounds like just sitting and listening is highly respected and all that is expected of newcomers. Totally works for me.

You'll settle in. Congrats on getting through that door. You'd be amazed how many die before they even get to the door. I am really happy to hear that you went!

Congratulations, I know how scary walking in your first meeting is. I was paralyzed getting back to AA LOL.
I m glad you like it and as you keep coming back, you'll start recognizing people and before you know it saying hello and chit chatting.
Kudos for facing the fear.

Try other meetings too, there are different types, and even different meetings at different times at the place you went, mix them up. Hopefully you'll find it a little more comfortable after a bit. It's nerve wracking for the new person, but keep going, it will get easier and when you do talk, I bet you find how welcoming people are. Glad you went, sweating bullets and all.
