Has any one try this

A so called "method":

Day 1 -Sober
Day 3 & 4 - Sober
Days 6 to 8 - Sober
Days 10 to 13 - Sober
Days 15 to 19 - Sober
Days 21 to 26 - Sober
Days 28 to 34 - Sober
etc....

Has any one try this?

This sounds like an awesome plan for a non-alcoholic. A great way to cut down on empty calories.
Id never have been able to do this. Total abstinence is the only solution for an alcoholic like me.

I'm an alcoholic. Only way for me to deal with it was to quit drinking totally, which is working out very well. I truly believe that if I had tried the drink only some days approach, I would now have 0 days sober, rather than about 11 months. Best of luck to you----rick

I'm sure people who struggle to stay sober try your method...

Time to jump into the deep end of the pool and quit, for good.

I am an alcoholic. I have never had it together enough to follow a schedule. Too much hassle. I stay sober everyday. It is easier that way.

I found it to be a huge relief to finally say good-bye to alcohol forever.

If I'm reading this correctly, one is increasing their "sober" time slowly by adding one day to not drinking, allowing for one day drinking?

1 day sober
1 day drinking
2 days sober
1 day drinking
3 days sober
1 day drinking
4 days sober
and so on...?

Years ago, I think I tried everything to moderate or spread out my drinking days/time.. except maybe standing on my head, naked, in the middle of the interstate, during rush hour.

I use this:

The next 24 hours=sober.

Rinse, wash, repeat...

I'm afraid I'd have to add:
Day 9 - crash my car
Day 14 - lose my job
Day 20 - lose my family
to the schedule

I'd never stick to it anyways. In the past year if I woke up and there was still booze in the house, I'd be back in that bottle about half the time.

That's what I thought. lol.

I just don't drink. It's so much better for everyone, especially the poor commuters.

OP - there's a distinct theme running through the replies. All I can say is that your schedule wouldn't have worked for me.

(...and I'm kind of disappointed Received hasn't offered to post pictures in order to help us understand this new 'middle of the freeway upside down naked' technique...)

Lol... sounds like a plan to binge drink to me. I can do that without a plan.

Sounds completely exhausting to me! I just don't have that kind of time. I'm too busy living!

Yeah.......umm, it turned into an absolute TRAIN WRECK that I am LUCKY to have survived....and others are lucky to have survived and I am even luckier that I didnt hurt anyone.
It began like your schedule...and it ended up being a several month long bender.

I dont recommend this. And in my humble opinion, it sounds like a typical alcoholics way of thinking to keep drinking.

Also, "method" for what? Harm reduction? To "cure" yourself? If that is your only plan I truly hope you are putting energy into many other things other than thinking of ways to continue drinking.
Im not trying to sound mean...Im just being honest, and wish you the best.

If your plan isn't causing problems in your life and you are happy with it, then it should be fine. To me it would be like poking a sleeping bear.

It might work short term but the alcoholic way of thinking will not let it. you will find any excuse to drink on those "sober" days eventually. Before you know it, you will have forgotten all about that plan.
